  • LS/4L60 guys in here

I've got a few issues I'm trying to figure out with my 4.8l 4l60e combo.

    1. When the car is first started and put in gear it surges forward very badly - it is not as bad when put in first but when put in "D" the brakes hardly hold the car from lunging. By the time i'm out of the neighborhood it is fine.

    2. The 1st to 2nd shift is brutal. It will screech the tires even if you are just rolling through an intersection or at part throttle. Very annoying.

It is a freshly "rebuilt" trans.

What is it idling at? Any trouble codes?

My old 5.3/4l60e swapped car started to lurch like that on cold starts (high idle) when the front U-Joint went bad.

No idle issues. It has a Torque convertor clutch code and another 0700 code I can't see because my scanner wont read trans codes.

What's the TPS percentage? Have you tried sweeping it? Is the car drive by wire?

If it has trans codes it might be at max trans adaptation, meaning the line pressures are commanded at 100%. Hence your harsh shift.

As for the surging forward I wonder it maybe the converter is trying to lockup?

Find someone who has a tool to see what the trans controller is doing. Did you modify the harness or buy one?

Yeah, I probably need to get james back out to check on it.

Harness is the stock harness. Didn't modify much has stock fusebox

It sounds like something in the transmission tuning.
