2012 focus tranny woes

I can't imagine the bean counters thought it was a good idea to invest a ton of money in a jointly designed DCT trans with Getrag and Luk when they already had two FWD automatic 6 speeds in their catalog.

I doubt they'll be going to a 6F15 since most of the competition has a version of ZF's 9HP already, that and they have a joint program with GM again on their own 9 speed.

The POS transmission is the number one reason that I got rid of my Focus. The rest of the car was great, IMO.

Lol no shit. Other than this I love this lil hatchback. They should convert it to manual for free . That would make me very happy.

Just got off of the phone. They are having a specialist come in tomorrow to check it out further. They ran it thru testing and it keeps acting up. I told him there is seepage at the trans and he said yup most likely it will get pulled out to have the input shaft seals replaced under warranty. The TCM isn't taking the refresh so that also. Maybe clutch pack of they are worn out also.

Problem is the shift fork for 3rd gear isn't resetting. So he said it more than likely will all be covered but won't know for sure till they get the main trans guy on it tommorow.

So not out of the woods as of yet. Def not gonna get my hopes up on a free repair.
