  • 08 Tahoe lots of inside tire wear

Wife's 2wd Tahoe started shaking at 65mph so she let me know. The front tires are worn substantially more on the inside both driver and passenger tires. So, I jacked up each side and pushed and pulled but got minimal movement from both sides. So, I crawled under it. Ball joints look ok, control arms bushings look ok, one sway bar end link bushing on each side is gone but the frame mounts look ok. Nothing looks out of place on the steering rack.

Truck has 87k miles on it and we've put maybe 5k of those. Anything else besides take it in for an alignment check and put new tires on it?

The hub and bearingsnon the half tons have rep of going out. Check them for wobble and take it to anywhere but a Firestone for an alignment.

Don't EVER take anything to Firestone.

Stick a pry bar under the tire with it off the ground a few inches. Have a helper watch the ball joints for play as you pull up on the pry bar. When they get bad enough, you can feel the bump when you lift up.

Tire wear is from negative camber. However, the tire looks like it is kinda old. How many miles on them?

If no worn suspension parts/ get a good alignment
            Some cars and a bike...

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

I pulled both tires off and checked the hubs for play and didn't find any. I'm hung up on the worn sway bar bushings and tire wear.

I'm not sure how old the tires are since we've only had it a few months and put maybe 5k miles on it.

It could just have been jumped then and the impact caused negative camber.

Tahoe's are great trucks that are cursed with GMs shitty front end design. Front end parts are cheap and I would devoted a weekend and $400 to replacing everything in the front end.

FYI: If you get dorman brand replacement control arms make sure the bolts that hold on the ball joints are tight.

My old ladies envoy denali did that shit. I checked everything, and it verified by machine. Per specs it would always wear on the inside fronts. Dads truck did the same thing until i added some camber.

Get some new tires, throw it on a rack and have it checked. Sit there and watch. I dont give a flat shit if its in range, i want that fucking needle in the middle.

Sway bar links won't affect tire wear on my experience, but will cause noise. get the front end aligned as stated above, replace the tires and keep an eye on them for future wear, stay on top of rotations.

Looking at the pic, it appears you are running about 1 degree too much negative camber.
I see no feathering (funny wear on the very edge of the treads) on the tires.

Most of the time specs should be changed to as follows.
"Make sure the vehicle has tires mounted to the front."

Ball joints, I have sold a million of 'em. But the California Bureau of Automotive Repairs
put a shut down to that gravy train! Find out what the specs for replacement is.
The old jack and crow-bar method will get one a big fine in Cali and it is a BULLSHI_
way to sell some unsuspecting person a bill of goods.
