McLoed Hydraulic throwout bearing and Viper T56

Anyone been down this road yet?
Viper T56
McLeod hyd throwout bearing....fully threaded IN the bearing face is 1.725" from face of trans which is 1.3"+/- from the fingers
Custom twin disc.....fingers are 3.06" from face of trans.

The bearing gets .06" closer with every turn on the adapter sleeve. At my measurements it would take about 23 turns to give me the .100" - .150" gap.

It boils down to, I need to move the threaded sleeve of the bearing away from the face of the trans about an inch but still give that sleeve something to push against.

This picture shows the sleeve threaded all the way out.




My cable setup used this adjustable pivot ball bracket but I believe that the sleeve will fit inside the i.d. so it would be no help

The mcleod bearing kits I have seen all used a spacer that bolted to the face of the transmission mid plate. Are you certain they sent the correct for the T56?

Just spoke with McLoed. I sent them a picture while was on the phone and gave him my measurements. He says that I have the right one but that I need to leave a 0.250" air gap between fingers and bearing. Once the bearing has fluid and us bled, it will return to ride where it needs to near the fingers.

I gave up last night before really digging into it. Just ran out if time. Tonight I should be able to get it sorted. Worse case, I get a second threaded sleeve and cut it down to get the distance I need. Then stack it on the bearing retainer behind this one.

Weld the threaded sleeve to your old pivot ball bracket , then cut the pivot ball part off.

Or I could cut an old tob to space it out. But yeah, I could get brooks to weld the two.

Tried to cut a throwout bearing on my band saw....nope, didn't scratch it.

Looked around the garage and I had a piece of fence pipe. I.d. was nearly perfect to slide over the shaft. I cut a 3/4" piece off and slid it on right behind the mcloed threaded sleeve.

Problem solved. Now I just need to stab the transmission.

Just asking ? What is the diameter and pitch of the threaded part. pitch is like a 1/4 x 20 bolt, 1/4 is the diameter and 20 is the number of threads per inch.

You could get made a longer threaded shaft if it is a US pitch, off a manual lathe. Or as suggested put a spacer on the trany face.
