The 393 idea is staying with me, I feel like the $300 crank will live, was looking into some oiling mods as well.

What Pistons do you guys reccomend?

I thought that too with my 408 swap. But then you have to buy a pan, and a harmonic balancer (28 oz) and a flexplate (28 oz), and new ARP head bolts (because they are larger), and have the bolt holes in the heads reamed, and a new alternator bracket, and new headers, and .. the list continues.

Just giving you a warning, its not as cheap as it seems. I really wish I would have done a 331 with Dart SHP block. But I'll probably change my mind once it is running.

I have a speed dr alternator bracket, buying the pan sucks, I already needed a new balancer.

The rest however is added costs, but well worth it over a 302, plus the 28oz stuff is more common on aftermarket stroker kits.

Have you considered a 408 or a 427? I can't remember the exact numbers, those might be wrong. But whatever the 2 are that a 351 strokes out to, beyond the 393. There seems to be several guys doing that over at bigblockford.com forums

              427 iirc is a 408 or 414 with a big ass piston.

Would the 414 or the 408 last very long? Or would they be a pretty short term engine?

                    They'd be fine.

Boostedgt ran a 414 or 418 for a while, it's for sale actually.
