  • putting new bumper on 01 GT

So I am going to order a 03/04 cobra front bumper with fog lights and bezel online. What else would I need to purchase ? I see that I will have to get a wiring harness for the fog lights to work because they are different than the gt ones.

can I still use my stock header panel etc any other tips would be great.

If anyone has a bumper/heat extractor hood/ cobra wing/ cobra delete kit etc. I plan on ordering the brunt of this all on Friday so if you do have some parts TIA. I found most of the parts for a very reasonable price so just pm me with yours.

Whiteboy Chime in because I know you have experience with this.

Just a heads up, there is sometimes a fitment issue with a cobra bumper and GT hood, or maybe it was the other way around. But before you pull the trigger you may want to do some googling / searching to be sure you won't have an issue.

Thanks, Chili. I plan on doing a whole conversion and when my engine goes out putting the cobra set up in there. Hopefully not soon tho . I may do the hood and bumper at same time to save me some headaches.

oem all the way my friend if you don't have the paper for that then forget about it(not trying to discourage you because you can find used oem parts).
It'll be a hack job with aftermarket parts. I have had too many guys try bring me aftermarket parts and ended up paying twice for the same job because they didn't like the fitment issues. my .02

All you need is the cover, bezels, fogs, fog light connectors, and the header panel cover (like you get in a Mach grille delete).

I also bought new attatching hardware from Ford.

I just finished doing my swap a couple of weeks ago with an aftermarket cover, and everything else from Ford and it all fits fine. As far as the hood fitment issue, I pushed the top of the cover between the headlights back, and drilled new holes in the header panel for the push pins that go through there (further back from the original), and that keeps the hood from rubbing the cover there. I have also seen people just leave those to pins out altogether, but it will still rub.

stock wiring plugs from a Gt work just fine if you know what your doing!

The 03 front bumpers from Certifit Fit really GOOD, Hoods are so so.

            Pics of my 03 clones

Front bumper and hood on the silver car are cert-fit parts

How did you use the same plugs?
I actually ended up using the same wiring, I just got the pins out of the connector, and put another connector (just the plastic shell) on them. They snapped in securely. That way I didn't even have to splice.

Bend the pins apart then it will clip right in.

                  Hood

Whats the best price you have found for an aftermarket/stock heat extractor hood. I think I am slowly going to do the entire fobra project.
