  • Anyone rebuild hydraulic cylinders?

I have a leaking hydraulic cylinder (jack plate on my boat) and I was told that if I had a spanner wrench, it's relatively easy, a few seals and a wiper. Anyone have experience with this?

If you can grab the outer cap from the side rather then a spanner you can use big channel locks to take it apart if its not to tight.

I can rebuild it for you. I dont know if I have a spanner that small though so if you could pick up the spanner Id come over.

I got snap on spanner wrenches you can borrow. I have rebuilt a ton of aircraft cylinders but I don't have time to help you.

my brothas, I appreciate it, but I'm in Austin, and the boat is in Rockport. Just wondering if it's complicated or straight forward.

I've turned plenty of wrenches, bottom end in my bronco is running strong 6 years after I built it, but I have only limited experience with hydraulics. I added discs and power brakes/power steering via hydroboost on the bronco, cobbled it all together and had hoses built, but that's the extent, and that's not even a decent comparison here, I'm thinking.

It's extremely easy. Just make sure you get the lip seals in the way the old ones came out. Iv torn a lot of them out that other guys have installed backwards.
