  • Hard starting when motor warmed up

Alright have this issue been doing it for about a month. Just can't figure it out. Car starts fine when cold, but when she is up to temp and shut it off. She won't start unless I give her gas. At first I thought it was the tfi module but replaced it and the problem still there.

This is what I have done
    Tps is good .91v
    New tfi
    New coil pack
    New cap and rotor
    Ignition switch is fairly new
    Fuel pressure holds 30psi
Fuel pressure when engine running vacuum off 40 psi.
I've pulled codes only got egr not opening. That shouldn't cause the problem.

Possible the pip sensor bad? Haven't checked that yet. Still a stock destribitor. Any suggestions will be great. Thanks

Man, that sounds like a TFI issue. What does it do if it's warm and you don't give it gas, trying to crank it?

Ignition module or possibly a bad ground. They'll act different at different temperatures if there are problems electrically.

If it tries to start, but turning a lot slower, it might also just be either a bad starter or headers too close, overheating it. Are you running long tubes?

Turns over just fine. Have a high torque mini starter. Running shortie headers. Could it be a bad ground on the motor?

Didn't have this problem till I put on a hotter coil pack seems like. Maybe overloaded something?

I'll do that. Never knew it was a common problem.

When mine did that, it was the fuel pressure regulator. The only coil I recommend is the Screamin Demon from Performance Distributors. Stay away from parts store or msd coil.

I know you need bigger plug wires with these hot coils also. 9mm
