Engine Builder in Dallas

Looking for a engine builder near me that has experience with BBFs. This isn't a factory rebuild. Its stroker with ported aluminum heads. Just want a quality shop to put it together right the first time.

I found Kim Barr is nearby but they look like they only/mostly do Chevy stuff.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Doing a little research I found recommendations for Morgan and Son and a place called Metroplex in Mesquite. Anyone ever use Metroplex?

So I've spent the better part of my free time today researching the names mentioned here and elsewhere. So far i have it narrowed down to a few (this is only based on internet feedback);

1) Watt's Shop in Lavon Tx
Found a bunch of good feedback from everyone from diesel guys to DMS import guys. Couldn't find anything less than stellar reviews/experiences. Though it doesn't seem that they specialize in anything.

2) Morgan and Sons in Grand Prarie Tx
Recommended here and by several people on BBF forum (though I don't think it was because they had a BBF built there). Good reviews by mostly small block ford and chevy guys on the interwebs.

3) Metroplex Automotive Machine Shop in Mesquite Tx
Found a few good recommendations for quality work though it may only be run by one guy and may not be much of a 'performance' oriented shop. Didn't find anything negative though. Really only found limited info on them.

4) Kim Barr in Garland Tx
Found a lot of mixed reviews on this one. Some good experiences and others not so good (thus is nature of the internet I guess). Maybe a little expensive compared to the others.


If anyone has anything to add about any of these I'd really appreciate it.

Watts is pretty damn good with everything, but Im unsure as to if he assembles or not. I thought he was machine only, but I dont know for sure.

Morgan and son builds a lot of engines for racecars. Street outlaws, x275 cars, etc...

From what I found and have been told they do assemble, though that could have changed. Their website says custom engine building among a few other things.

Kim Barr did my 331 and it worked out well for me. Like Rodney said, if Jet is available and willing to do so, that would be my first choice.

Dennis wells is two blocks from my parents house. I took the first bbf I wanted to build to him and he gave me the most cross eyed look when I told him what I was working on. Made some snide remark about not working on tractor motors.

As for Rodney's suggestion, I have no idea who jet5.0 is. I thought nay nay was trolling like usual.

Jet pops in from time to time, usually with a noteworthy post, then fades back into the mist.
