I just got my car back on the road. It now has a 308, f cam, e7 heads, explorer intake and some other bolt ons. My question is, what should my vacuum be at idle? My brake booster is hard as a rock and has a hard time stopping the car. I think it is the booster but want to check the vacuum before buying a booster. I don't have smog stuff and only have the fuel pressure regulator and the vacuum block hooked to the intake and all other ports are capped. the vacuum cannister and line looks to be good.

If you have solid vacuum on the hose going to the booster and the pedal is hard the booster is likely at fault. You should be able to start the car, idle it for 20 seconds or so, kill it, and remove the vacuum elbow going into the booster and hear it bleed vacuum off. If it won't hold it that way, the check valve (plastic elbow) or the booster diaphragm is bad. -
Could be the one way valve going to the booster? Maybe it's on backwards?Comment
