Put new coil on, not much of a change. Still has slight misfire, and the car is still somewhat sluggish and lacks throttle response.

Mine seems to only really appear at idle. Its just a stumbling jiggle. Only other effects are a bit of sluggishness, and seemingly some power loss. I'm hesitant to just start throwing parts at it. Most auto parts come with the "you can't return this if you put it on the car" stipulation. Otherwise I probably would just throw parts at it until it stopped, then return all the parts that weren't needed.
Probably not at all related, but how long until the valve springs wear out? The car does have 178k miles on it.WH

Well I bought this. Been wanting one for a long time to check other vehicles as well. I'll see if I can smoke out any leaks where air might be getting into the engine, before the MAF. Some guy on youtube said it worked well to find leaks.

In the meantime, anybody got a problem with this thing? Would it be any better than a ford/motorcraft distributor? I'm looking to upgrade from the Ford part if possible. Hopefully to one with greater reliability.

Not sure on that one but I went with a MSD 8455 and couldn't be happier. It made the car run a little smoother and more responsive. Might have just been the timing change but It was a improvement.

Finally scanned it. I did the KOEO test. (key on engine off)
"189 Fuel system at rich adaptive limit at part throttle. System lean bank 2"
I'm afraid as someone who isn't a trained Ford technician, I don't know what that means. The system is at its limit trying to adapt to running too rich? And this is occuring at half throttle. Yet at the same time, the left (or right?) side of the engine is running lean? Perhaps the left or right bank of injectors..
KOER (key on engine running) result:
"111 system pass"Last edited by Gasser64; 04-20-2015, 10:33 AM.WH
