  • Hi-Flow Cats Exhaust Opinion

This is probably a dumb ass question but I have to get your opinion on this. Late last year I had the flowmaster hi-flow mini cats installed in my 93 gt. I had them installed by the transmission (automatic) cross member since that was the closest and best place to install them, according to the exhaust shop.

Well that eventually was too low to the ground because i ended up hitting something on the road and it messed up both cats. I purchased two more cats and I went back to the exhaust shop. The exhaust guy was telling me to install the cats passed the h-pipe because it seats higher than previously installed and i wouldnt have a problem messing them up again. Does this sound right? I asked him if it would make a difference and he stated that it wouldnt matter because it would only matter on vehicles with OBD2.

So now im running in this order, shorty headers, hpipe, hi-flow minis and super 10's. But would this hurt the performance or sound? To me, it mightve altered the sound but im thinking thats just me knowing that the cats are installed in between the h-pipe and super 10s. What do you guys think?

You want the cats upstream as far as possible. Extreme heat is one of the elements needed for them to funtion correctly.
