        It will add some degree of strength and rigidity to your motor, but as others have stated above - the stock block is simply not meant to handle high RPM and over 500-550rwhp. If your plans are at that point or above, save yourself some time, money, and heart-ache and get an aftermarket block that is built with high RPM and high HP in mind i.e. FRPP Boss, DART, etc.

          This block was line honed, had studs, was shifted at 6200 and all the girdle did was hold the pieces together

            ^^^^^ When I was killing 5.0 blocks they did not fail the way the one that you have pictured did. They would crack between the mains and the cam bore right into the lifter valley. The engines would even sort of run as the main caps and intake manifold would kind of keep it together. Once I got good at tuning I stopped blowing head gaskets and broke blocks instead.
