  • 6.4 PSD Guys Inside - Longshot

I bought a 2008 F250 w/ the 6.4 about 1 month ago. Over the last couple of weeks I have began to notice a hesitation under light acceleration between 1800 - 2000 RPMs. To me it seemed fuel related to I removed and cleaned the hfcm and replaced both filters. Same result.

I do not notice the issue when the truck is cold or when you accelerate at a faster than normal pace. The check engine light is NOT on, there is no smoke, and it seems to run fine as long as you accelerate fairly hard. It will run on the highway 80mph + with no issues, but due to this problem I have only driven it to test. Just looking for some things to look for.

The truck is tuned w/ a SCT tuner, has a DPF delete, but the EGR is still in tact. Planning an EGR delete and different tuner soon, but would like to get the issue addressed. Any input would be appreciated.

you need somebody with an IDS or similar to run a power balance. I bet you've got an injector or two dropping out

don't waste your time/money on an EGR delete IMO

Thanks! was looking for a response from you.

What would you do about the EGR? Just upgrade the coolers? I bought this one to sell, but after driving it about 1k miles, I'm really thinking about keeping it, but don't want any major issues. Probably will drive the truck 4k per year.

I wouldn't touch the EGR. Just drive the sumbitch.

After you figure out what's going on with it, obv!

if it doesn't act up cold, but does hot, it makes me question the hpfp. An ids is the best way to diag as stated

All I can add is that I would take Cooter's opinion with a high opinion over most anyone on the board. The man knows his shit.
