  • 4.6 3 valve

Will a 2009 mustang gt 4.6 3v work in a 2005 mustang gt 3v? How much changing is necessary if any? It looks as it will fit.
    DON.

I'm pretty sure it's the same motor, should be a direct swap I think.

Hollander doesnt show it as interchangeable, though that doesnt mean it isnt possible.

If it's like the trucks then you'll need to use the newer coils. The heads are different for sure, they switched to the bigger plugs in 08+. The short blocks are different part numbers but the crank, balancer, rods, pistons and cams are all the same.

I don't know anyone that actually remans this engine though so I can't say for sure.

What's the "lol" for? Those are still more expensive, and all he needs is a long block, or just a short block.

Thanks for all the info guys. motor swapped out with minimal changes. Seems later model had different size plugs and coil boots other than that runs perfect.

Are you the one that Elijah bought it from? I seen a picture of the 3v in the classifieds and told him to inquire and then he shows up with it, If it is the same motor it would have been nice to get as complete in the photo but I finished it out and made it right, no problem, all good.
