  • Driveshaft shop / speedo gear ?

Just put a 9 inch rear end into the wife's 68 with a posi and 3.25's. The car had a wore out 8 inch in it with 2.89 's. Has a mild build 351 / C4, 69 heads, mild cam, duel plain intake, stock exhaust manifolds with duel 2" exhaust. Headers will be much later as I don't want to mess with them right now.

The current drive shaft is a 2 piece one that is pressed ??? together with rubber. I might have a stock 1 piece one, that will fit, in my pile of stuff, but it is raining and ect. Real sure I got a longer one that could be shortened. Haven't had one made in years and that was at Wallis Welding in Garland. I don't think they even exist any more and now I am in Irving. I also need to find the correct speedo gear with the gear change. I have seen a list of gear size to correct the speedo issue, just can't find it now.

Wife don't need more help with speeding tickets, she gets enough on her own.

Any ideas on a shop to shorten a driveshaft and where to get the correct speedo gear?

You'll need the C4 drive gear tooth count, usually 7, and your tire diameter and then use the calculator below. If you are still running a stock diameter, around 26", you'll probably need a 15 tooth.

As for your driveshaft, I have always used these guys when I need a new one or work in aluminum. (I shorten my own steel ones.) Just off Precinct Line and Hwy 10 in Hurst.

My 68 had the exact same set up, and my replacement one piece from automotive driveline is smoother.
