Hood latch issues

I have to slam my hood quite a few times before it finally latches. I've adjusted the latch mechanism in all different directions but it still doesn't catch. Any ideas? Car is a 90 hatch.

the part that holds the cable to the car under the dash is broke on mine so I have to make sure to push the handle under the dash back in just right to get my hood to latch correct.

I checked that part too. It's good.

Lube the latch mechanism.

I put some wd40 on it tonight. I'll let it soak and see if it helps.
