I have a powerglide im debating on putting in my turbo charged 86 mustang. Car is currently a 5 speed with 3.55 gears. Putting the glide in to be faster at the track and because the T5 won't hold the power. I'm also debating on just buying a stronger 5 speed or a T56. Seems like all the quick turbo cars are auto though. Car is just a toy but anywhere I drive is all highway. I'm scared I'm gonna hate driving it on the street with the Glide but I wonder if it won't be that bad. Anybody on here have a C4 or glide in their car and have any input? I'm also considering putting a 3.27 gear in the car if it goes auto.

Drive around in 4th gear for a while at freeway speeds. Losing OD is a big deal to some people. With 3.27 gears you'll be cruising at 3100 rpm at 70mph and 26" tires. With 3.55s it's 3400.
You'll definitely be faster and more consistent and probably won't break as many parts with a glide but if you plan on taking any cross country trips in the car you won't like it.
I had 3.89 gears with 28" tires and a glide with a small converter/brake. My car went from something with a ton of power I could drive anywhere to a slow street legal race car when I did the switch. I didn't have any more transmission problems though!

i have a fresh rebuilt glide from a 67 impala with a 327 that i plan to put behind my 327 (5.3). mine is just a toy too, and until i get it shook down i dont plan to do much on the highways. i can get to kellers via side streets and i think that and forest lane will be my main cruising grounds.
i'm excited about the glide w/ boost
