After how many miles does a block need to be machined and have the internals balance? I'm thinking of changing out my pistons from flat top to reverse dome and have read that they recommend it, my motor has less than 1k miles on it. Do I still need to have that work done??

Have the bore checked and honed if it's ok. 1000 miles can be a lot of 1/4 mile passes.

If the new pistons weight is different from your old ones it should be rebalanced.Last edited by jyro; 12-16-2014, 10:48 PM.Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.
