  • Falcon suspension upgrade

Hey guys, I have a 63 falcon that has all factory replaced suspension in front and is bouncy and I have been thinking about upgrading the front suspension to mustang stuff.

My concern is that besides the 5 lug and disc brake upgrade will the ride quality be better or the same?

Also if anyone has any leads on 65 V8 mustang suspension parts like spindles and rear end etc. Please let me know.

I have no idea if it would help or not but I just did a wilwood big disc brake setup on my 69 mustang. I have the Rotors, calipers and associated brackets. Spindles were re-used with the setup. I would sell them pretty cheap if they would work for ya.

With that stance and stock suspension, I doubt there is any travel left. Your bouncy ride is probably due to either the lower control arms contacting the bottom of the frame or the stock shocks are bottoming out becasue they are too long.
Not to mention the coil springs are probably hacked up.

My 63 Falcon is lowered 3-4 inches and it's not as low as yours and I have issues with those items stated above.

V8 spindles and brakes won't make a difference in the ride unless you use drop spindles and return the suspension travel closer to stock.

If you are thinking V8 springs, you will make it worse. The control arms are nearly the same, actually the same, as V8 Mustang parts.

Relocating the shock mounts or installing shorter shocks should help.

Thanks Homealone, I was thinking about going back to stock springs and go from there after I do the 5 lug swap.

Here is mine. It has 67 Mustang spindles and brakes up front with a little over 2 coils cut off and a 65/66 8" out back with a set of 2" blocks and a leaf removed.

That thing looks good, now im going to have to find some other wheels to use. Those are what I had planned for mine lol.

Let me know when you are free or around, I would like to check it out and see how everything is run.
