depends on the quality of the head unit really.

as long as it is a p trim or equivalent turbine, the drive pressures should be fine. count the blades.. should be 10 on the turbine.. p trim and f1 68 are similar in size but the f1 has about 4 more mm of tip to it and a better aerodynamic pitch. much like the precision CEA shafts.

from what i have seen with knock off turbos is they can closely mimic an F1-65 or 68 shaft but lack on balancing, or use lead filler to compensate balancing on the compressors.

if the compressor nut is 7/16" or 11mm you will have a "big shaft" copy. Don't run the thing if you have a 3/8" or 10mm nut as that is a standard shaft and I can promise it will stretch and fail with a heavy 70mm cast wheel.

they are not inconel 713c like the turbonetics shafts they are copying.

most of the 360 garrett shit works with the china turbos too.

How about some alcohol injection. The hotair Buick guys make plenty of power with it and pump gas.

Ok back to this, what are the views on remote mount turbos? I'm thinking of turning my X pipe into a merger and running a single 3" back to where the passenger muffler would sit and stick the turbo there then run the charge pipe back up front (2-1/2 or 3"). I've seen some other remote builds and guys aren't really noticing much delay, if any, in building boost. Are long tubes ok for this application? I hope a T-70 would be ok on this.

Also, since my 289 has the wrong firing order for the fox style EFI I need to change it out, whats a good cam to run for a small motor with turbo? Gears will be 3.27's with a 5 speed.

Are you trying to run a remote system just because you already have the exhaust, or do you just not want to build the hot side ?

I've seen where a lot of guys are running a smaller diameter pipe off of the manifolds/headers to keep velocity up but I know absolutely shit about running remote mounted turbos.

Yes partly because I already have the exhaust, I also like an uncluttered engine bay. Also, I'm slightly concerned about getting in over my head making manifolds and getting around all my accessories, I'm not getting rid of my power steering or AC.

They work but require scavenge pumps and such.

Id stick it in the fenderwell before doing a low mount imho.

crane 2031 or cobra cam with 1.7's.. Hell I've used non HO and HO cams and they worked great.

remote mounts are problematic due to oil backing up in the centers and cooking the bearings and blowing past the seals. if a low/remote mount is a must, get a no gap turbine seal upgraded unit. scavenge pumps do not pump air so a separation box will be needed to avoid issues. go here for info on gearotor pumps www.rbracing-rsr.com/oilsystems.htm

i'd stick with gravity drain and build around the accessories.

                    cheap, fast, reliable.. pick two..

So basically what Lance (it's Lance, right ?) said was, don't be a pussy by taking the quick/easy way out. Haha

Issue with my block is it either requires link bar lifters for a roller cam or flat tappet cams.

I'll try to track down another set of 289/302 exhaust manifolds (one of mine was busted) and see about making those work. These shock towers are MUCH narrower than the fox stuff so finding a set of shallow headers to flip and work is a bit of a chore, those cars have a lot more room to work with.

I guess I'll throw out that I have a portable TIG welder and could help some time.
