  • need turbo guys inside

ok need all my turbo guys in here on this one. Having some issues. Here is the thing I went out to test the boost on the t brake. first time it came up to about 14psi on the brake, pretty quick. Car temp was kind of cold. 2nd attempt, I lowered the launch and it came up decent again. But third attempt car only car up to 5psi on the brake and a little slower. 4th attempt, not car is about 180 temp, it would not build any. Seems temps is playing a role.

car has a boost leash 2 controller on it, with co2. I have good pressure in the co2 line

Now could the wastegate need to be changed? Its over 10 years old, bought it used. It sat for like 7-8 years. its a Tial waste gate.

Could it be in the tune? It has FAST for tuning.

Have you let the car cool back down to try again to see if you get the same result?

        could definitely be tuning...

if it's retarding the timing while cold, that would explain a lot

Ok just tried it again. Car was a little over the 140 temp, it built boost to about the 7psi mark. The warmer the car gets, the slower it builds and then finally it will get to the 0 boost range

are you pulling any timing on the brake? could always take the gate off and test it, but i doubt its that.

I dont think any timing is being pulled on the brake

does not sound turbo head unit related. just do the wiggle and pull test on the compressor to be sure. no more than .5mm max of play side to side if journal bearing and zero in and out.

i would however change the gate or rebuild/clean it at minimum. they like to keep operating and carbon free.

def sounds timing or fuel vs temp related

How full is the co2 cylinder? (weigh it, you can't go by pressure in co2).
How did it do when you let it cool back down?

it should be full, havent had many passes on it.

doing test tomorrow on full cool down. and warm up. going to datalogg using the FAST.

but the last cool down it went up to about 7psi on cool down. it prolly would not have built boost if I did it again

You didn't have a hose melt or anything did you? Something collapsing?

Or blow one of the intercooler tanks off. That'll sure make it fun to diagnose.

just did a cold test brake hit. went to over 13psi on the brake with ease. but I did get a data logg of it on the FAST for the tuner to look at

ok just did a warm brake stall. got it to see 10psi to. took a little longer but not to bad. and it prolly would have gone higher. temp was around 185 going on the brake. if I could see that every time I would be happy.

and if a 2 step will help it come up a little faster, even better. 2 step is going on next.

does anyone know if doing a t brake pull like this with my co2 bottle off messes with things? cause I have forgotten to turn the bottle on a few times.

the tps only shows 75 percent on the t brake, is this correct?
