Get a hei spark tester, looms like a spark plug with the end cut off. Check each cylinder with it for good consistent spark. If any have no spark or intermittent then suspect a weak coil. You can alsojust pull the wires off each plug while running (i use plastic hose clamp pliers), they should spark up to an inch or so from the end of the boot and be blue to bright white spark.

Check fuel pressure? Minus the pop you heard sounds like the pump might be taking a shit. When mine went out on my Silverado it did the exact same thing you are describing. Barely ran, no acceleration, but limped it home going about 50 but would die or stumble if I tried to accelerate any more than maybe 5 % throttle.

The clutch disks are garbage on those, I've seen a dozen or so just blow apart. Couple that with cruise control and 80+ mph speeds and it could have over revved and detonated, which melted the plugs. Your pedal could feel fine but if half the disk is missing it's not going to work very well.

I am on my 3rd or 4th fuel pump. These typically just quit. I plan to swap the filter/regulator at some point before it goes to a shop and see what happens.
It is taking everything in me to not put it on blocks in the garage and pull the motor and start the LS conversionOriginally posted by LeahBest balls I've had in my mouth in a while.
