I'm thinking I can do a 351w swap, be around 700hp, and take on damn near anything I encounter on the street. I don't run it at the track. It's just my weekend toy. Im tired of worrying about the 500hp limit on the stock 302 block, but don't want to spend $5k to get past it.

Depends on who you hang out with I guess.

When a coyote with ~ 10lbs of boost is making close to those numbers then it's hard to say.

Cars are starting to have over 700hp from the factory.

Guy to beat in my circle of friends is a 940whp tt cobra, friend has a exolorer motor with an fcam and a 175 shot that gives him hell, only because of traction lol.

    320rwhp. 7.67 @ 90mph 1.7 60'

700hp on the streets is plenty.

If you pull up to a red light in your 700hp car and some car pulls up next to you and you some how make the decision to race them to the next red light do you know what happens when the light turns green?

Amen! I've got ~330 to the wheels and it has surprised many higher hp new vehicles. Although, it also gets whipped by many as well.

I'm almost done with my 408 swap and I am beginning I wish did a Dart SHP363. I got rid of lots of 302 stuff to buy 351 and there is a bunch more to buy than you think you need for a tall block. I have Afr 185 on mine.

I saw Woody's post a while back and ask him if he had EVER seen a failure because of the crack, he said no. My own opinion is the cam bearings don't carry much load individually. I've raced a alcohol blown roller block for years bracket racing. never a problem. mine is a hyd roller with 160 on the seat.

You could do an LS swap for pretty cheap if you buy good used parts. You might get that 700hp 351w, but how economical/reliable will it be?

I ask because I've never had one.

                      get on car-part.com
look up a 95 f150 engine or block

I paid 450 for a pullout 95 truck longblock "roller"

get a ford racing swap oil pan, diff lower intake and swap your stuff over.

if it was me id just sell your power adder and build a 408 shortblock and throw those heads on. torque monster and reliable.

you can always make it faster.

or rebuild a 351 shortblock with some trw forged pistons (cheap) and slap it together.

                        600 @wheels will last a longtime with a 351

I run a F4TE block 351 in my truck. I've run a best at Kennedale of 7.56@95mph. My 60' was a 1.9 and I ran that on regular non drag radial tires. My truck weighs 4600 with me in it so you can figure the hp. I even have stock hyper pistons. It's a good engine to lean on for minimal cash outlay.

I bought his 408 shortblock and I'm doing like he said. It was pretty quick with the 306 (even on 7 cylinders at the end). I'm sure it will be plenty fast for a street car.
