Trying to get the 08 inspected and ready to sell, mechanic says front lower joints are both failing. When we looked up the parts online Moog offers a ball joint by itself or the entire LCA. Dude wasn't sure if the LCA was necessary or not, can anyone tell me if the ball joint is replaceable? There's a ~$400 difference across both options.

A lot of the time the Moog BJ will be for replacement only AFTER you've replaced the entire thing with the new A arm, and won't fit the stock part. I can't remember on this one specifically, but in these situations I would just call the manufacturer help line directly to get a concrete answer, since our internal help line was fucking useless.

About 6 or 7 years ago, suddenly we were inundated with control arm inventory. Which was fantastic, since they take up so much room. Just another sign of our disposable culture, plus I'm sure they make a pretty penny more on only offering the entire arm. I know I loved making those sales. It did make it easier for your average DIYer to just bolt in an arm rather than try to press new BJs in. I dunno though, maybe the vehicle manufacturers have changed the way they make them so they aren't replaceable. You never voluntarily get info like that of course, so it's all speculation.
