1993 mustang radio is dead

So I bought the car yesterday and the factory radio won't kick on. No lights or sound. I pulled it and all connections look good. Fuses under dash are all good as well. I want to keep the factory radio. It is a cassette radio with no equalizer.

This is a 30k mile car so I am hoping the radio isn't fried.

Unrelated my airbag light flashes and I am sure it is a common problem. I just have never owned one new enough to have the airbag.

Radio blows and has been on the downhill slide since the mid-80s. Go with XM/SIRIUS.

Did you remove the radio ? I know an airbag sensor/plug etc. of some sort is behind the radio.... The issue could be related

You might be able to grab that clockspring at a parts store FYI. You might have to go to 6 or 7 of them before you find someone who knows what you're talking about though.

This might sound crazy... But back in the day, factory radios sucked... It was a must to replace all of it or you weren't cool.... True story lol.

Toss that shit and Get an aftermarket! 200 bucks will get you one with decent modern tech built in.

Wow didn't expect to see this brought back. It took me a long time of trouble shooting and I ended up re-pinning every wire in the radio harness, removing the antenna, opening up the amp...etc etc.

So now I have a stock radio modified w/ an aux cable that is fully functioning. The aftermarket head unit wouldn't really add much IMO.

I think you are thinking of the clockspring as whiteboy mentioned... there is an airbag sensor behind the controls but it is not connected to the radio wiring.

Didn't replace the clockspring... what other signs would that present? I have the Airbag light on but I am getting the code for the blue box behind the AC controls.

Fuck XM/SIRIUS... no offense. Why the hell would someone pay for that when you can get better music, in your control, via your phone? As mentioned I have a modified stock radio now so I can do this.

No thanks. My car has under 31K miles... I like the stock look. All the aftermarket radios look like shit IMO once installed. You have to use that shitty panel w/ the screws showing. I understand the change if you are big time into car audio... but I listen to my car more than I do the radio.
