Anybody know of a good place / price for a rebuilt VP44 injection pump? Mine is suffering from the notorious hard start problem so it is terminal.

Mine has been doing that for years. Keep a quart of tranny fluid in a full tank of fuel and a fresh starter and it will start like it did when new. I give it a shot of starting fluid when I forget to put the oil in the fuel. It is much worse when it is hot out. In the winter time it always starts instantly.

Startup is all on the VP44 and not the lift pump. The lift pump coming on actual creates longer starts by adding air into the injector pump if it is hurting from a bad diaphragm.
I haven't but a code reader on it but some folks don't even get the dreaded P0216 code and their pump is completely out.
