  • LSx Guys in here...

those of you with LS motors, where are you getting them rebuilt or buying shortblocks/longblocks?

The LS6 in my wife's race car has 7 seasons on it and we are considering pulling it and rebuilding it before it goes boom. We may also consider selling it as is and buying a long block from TSP but don't know what their reputation is as I am a Ford guy.

    Thanks for suggestions.

Assuming nothing has changed recently TSP motors come from Sunset Racecraft.

What is the motor doing that makes you think it needs a rebuild?

over it's lifetime it has seen water temps in the 240's, 260's and once in the 275 range. This is not all the time, but instances where fans were left off or someone forgot to top off the radiator. Recently, it's started running a little warmer where it used to run in the 190 range. Now in the 220 range. It doesn't smoke, it seems to have compression but honestly, it just needs to be gone through and freshened up.

Mach1, I did speak with MP and that builder has been iffy lately. I am honestly considering another GM shortblock like the current one, however, I am thinking about adding cubes and extending rpm range to 7000 so we can eventually go to a jerico and not need 5th gear. It's a 70# weight savings and less worry about cooking another T56 from the heat.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I will start researching these leads.

Since Tom Whitten retired, I generally recommend Watts.
