Honestly, I'd do a 351 based motor. You have to buy everything anyway. You say cubic inches don't matter......but they do. With a 408, you could make the power you want or get real close NA. With more CI's, you can go milder on the cam/boost and still make more power.

I don't care what you say now, you are always going to want more. You'll want more the minute I eat your ass in my LS1

A mild 408 makes tons of torque and has great drivability.

God damn man, you're thinking about it way too much. There are way easier ways to make the power you're wanting than to spend $15k on just the engine.

Like Big Thumper said, go big Windsor. You can run about 9-9.5:1 compression, some AFR 205's, and a decent cam and your choice of power adder and make more than enough power.

Not having read all this, my advice is a big bore with the 331 stroke to make a 347 with a 4.125 bore. Plenty of room left for rebuilds, plenty reliable for street driving and making serious power. 500 rwhp won't be enough, you know you'll want more, so build the shortblock to handle 1100 horsepower!

trust me, i know what each and every one of you are tryin to tell me, and honestly, i agree with ya, but,, im not real big on wanting something crazy, i used to be,, i used to want a 363 c.i. and a twin turbo setup good for 800+ but i know,, with my dumbass, i would be out doin stupid shit with it like killing supras and vettes and fuckin with bikes on a daily basis... i dont need that lol... not in the time i have left in the army, and plus, i have to try and somewhat keep my record clean since iwant a nice government driving job once i get out... trust me,, i play A LOT out on the streets, but i do it with common sense, i only do it in areas I KNOW nobody will rat on me or areas i know are smooth and hardly any traffic... if im in town cruisin, no matter what the situation, i watch my surroundings and i take it easy. i dont need that much power, idk what my car is puttin down now with the paxton 1000 and the 306,,, but its honestly WAY FASTER than my 356whp cobalt ss i had.... and that bitch was fuckin FAST... videos on my youtube do it no justice, camera angle on the speedometer and how close it was makes it look slow, but that car scared me to a certain extent.... i know if i lined my mustang up with that cobalt from a 20 roll, i would eat that lil fucker alive.

because i want an engine that is built in such a way to handle MORE power than what i want in it, AND, for the blower part, i just like it. i love all motor power too, trust me, but i love having boost... for a lot of reasons, cooler inlet air temps, better air/fuel delivery, ( if properly tuned ) and im sure someone else could explain my other reasons. me having a 331 built, with just the engine alone putting out close to 400, that means for me that i have 100 ish hp and even more torque to make with a supercharger without havin the extra cubes that i DONT WANT.... maybe,,, just MAYBE a 347. no 351 though... nada... zilch....

if i ever get enough guts to go the more power route, than i will have an engine that can handle the extra step. but i really dont think im going to want more. 500 at the rear wheels is going to be quite enough for me to get used to. lots of money on tires, and lots of practice taking off and keeping it under control.

You do understand that you dont make a whole lot of sense right? You can build a more streetable bigger inch 351 motor that will be stronger and prolly cheaper!
