  • Best intake and header size for my combo.

In a few weeks I'll be picking up a 347 from a good friend. It has a full Eagle rotating assembly AFR 185's and a FRPP X cam. The engine has less than 500 so I'm really looking forward to dropping it in my coupe. I'm wondering what intake and headers you guys think would work best for this set up. I have a few intakes at my disposal. I have a Victor EFI, Performer RPM, and a RPM II. I can also pick up a Systemax pretty cheap from another friend if I need too.

The headers I have on hand are a set of MAC 1 5/8" longtubes and a set of BBK 1 3/4 longtubes.

The engine will be supported with a full Aeromotive fuel and MSD ignition systems. Including all the typical bolt-ons.

    Discuss please.

Victor efi, please change the cam, and 1 3/4 longtubes would do great.

Production block? The victor efi is high strung but it'll make some good power with a 347 and 185s.

Or if you want to keep it below 6500, I'd go with the smax.

You say you are picking up a 347... Please god tell me this is a joke. A 347 isn't much larger then the Volkswagen my sister drives. It gets great gas mileage sure...which is a plus if you were born with a vagina, but let's be honest you need a man motor. I am going to include contact info where you can drop the 347 off. The car in which you were planning to put the block in is most likely better off being hauled to the nearest junk yard. I do have a large 40' flatbed that we can use to take it and I have all the necessary tarps and tie downs to hide your coupe. (If anyone stops and asks us what we are hauling I have decided that we will both say a mint condition zl1) it is likely we can make our getaway while there jaw is firmly implanted in the ground.
To solve your problem I found a perfect car with low miles. If you need help with anything just pm me I can provide transportation and what not.

        Kind regards,

        Steve

P.s the only thing I have planned this week is a photo/video shoot but other than that I am clear!
I think I will take you up on that offer. Meet me in S. Oak Cliff, at 2:30am tomorrow. I'll bring the chains, to tie it down, of course.

What would you change the cam to? I've been told by a handful of people that the X cam is worth keeping. I'm not building this to race. More of a weekend street brawler at the most.

You bought a Systemax from me a while back. What did you put it on?

All of the Ford Racing alphabet cams are a stone and chisel technology. With a 347 stroker and a nice top end, why skimp on the cam? I would run either Comp 282, or Anderson N-71.

As far as the intake, Trick Flow R, Victor EFI

Agree with all that but would go with comp 292 cam.

I put the smax on my 302 with an Anderson cam and Brodix heads. Runs 7.60s with a shit ass 60ft.

I would get a custom grind, yeah it'll cost around 300-400 but Ed Curtis is a badass when it comes to camshafts.

It all depends on your combustion chamber size and pistons and how high you want to turn it.

Id go somewhere in the ball park of 220-224 220-228 with 570-600lift and a 112 lsa for a street car.

If you have a production 8.2 block I would suggest something with long runners like the systemax.

I made 380 rwhp with a 347 topped with iron gt40 heads, x cam, cobra intake, 1 3/4 long tubes, 10.5:1 cr. Car would get 20+ mpg and ran like a champ with no tune. Tweaked the timing and manipulated the iac with a bleed plate. Sold the car to a guy years ago and last I heard he was still beating the snot out of it. Biggest thing it to keep the revs down ideally below around 6400 ish. I split the block in my 95. Na 347 450 rwhp spinning 7200 rpms.

7200 on a stock block ! Holy cow haha surprised it lasted as long as it did lol.

And that's only 60whp more then me with 45 more cubes, almost a full point of compression and a lot less miles. Granted I have better heads and intake.

The x cam won't be a bad cam. It's just outdated and not the best.

Yeah me too. It held for about year and a half before it let go. I have pictures somewhere of the block.

Yeah that old engine was just put together with parts we had laying around. Would have ran much better with a better hci combo, but it ran really good for what it was. Heads and intake were choking it down badly.

I was trying to find a price on the 292 but was unsuccessful. Can someone give me a ballpark as to how much it would set me back?
