  • Wilwood drag race brakes on a 8.8?

Well I just put an Explorer 8.8 in my 68 Coupe and now I'm trying to decide what to do for brakes. This particular rear was out of a Sport Trac so it had drum brakes instead of discs like the regular Explorer.

I picked this up for $100, and these brackets are supposed to be for an 8.8 but they are not. These are Dynalite drag race brakes, with an 11.44" rotor.

I called Wilwood and gave them the part number of the calipers and rotors and asked them about buying just the brackets and they told me they didn't make that set of brakes for an 8.8. It just seems odd to me that Wilwood does not make a set of drag race brakes for an 8.8. So now I'm trying to figure out what to do with this.

So I was wondering if anyone here has used these on an 8.8. If I can't make these work I guess I'll end up selling this and buying all the Explorer disc stuff to put on. I guess I'm just looking for ideals/opinions/advice.

Well I ended up making a couple bucks off the Wilwoods and putting stock Explorer rear discs and associated parts on.

I got all the little stuff finished up last night and this car screams with the new gears and stops better than ever! I love driving this thing again!
