What clutch?

My brain is fried from reading so many mixed reviews.

Need a clutch for my 87gt. Running a v3 @ 8psi right now, 331hp, 370lb tq, stock heads and intake.

I have the intake ready to go in, and next mod will be heads, so I'm trying to keep that in mind when shopping for clutches. I plan on being around 450rwhp by the time I'm done.

I've looked at spec 2, 2+, exedy Mach 500, and the single disc McLeod.

Mixed reviews on all, so I turn to you guys. Car is a weekend toy, never at the track. The t5 is fixed up a little, but I know it won't be too long afterwards, but that will have to wait. I'm easy on it anyways, I don't dump the clutch at all.

Don't want to spend the coin on an RST either.

Suggestions?

Spec stage 2 is what I would run. I had one in my 95 with a 450 rwhp 347 and it held just fine. Stay away from exedy, they are junk.

Wow, see I have read the exact opposite. Searching for suggestions nowadays is like trying to diagnose medical issues over the internet, you find results from one extreme to the other!

I just took out a Spec Stage 2 with less than 5000 miles on it. The clutch held the power well enough(500rwp) but the pedal feel was heavy as hell, it chattered horribly, and I had a hard time getting it adjusted properly. It was the worst feeling clutch I have ever owned. I took it out so I could install a McLeod RST Twin disc.

I've been beating the shit out of a king cobra at the track. for the money it isnt too bad of a clutch. I have a ram adjustable pressure plate/sintered iron single disk/aluminum fly wheel about to go in.

Be a man spec stage 3. I liked the pedal feel.

I have installed most all the major brands and the spec has hands down been the best. Slightly stiffer clutch pedal effort but nothing unbearable. The exedy was 10x heavier then stock and chattered its ass off.

I have been running a centerforce dual friction on my V1 GT and haven't had any problems, knock on wood.

I have had 6 SPEC clutches and can't say anything but good stuff.

Do not use a puck style disc. For a 10 spline T5, the very most I could do is a dual friction setup like a Spec 2. Another great option is a heavy duty replacement pressure plate with a center force dual friction disc.

I'm confused. The spec 2 is dual friction?

I'm running your hp350 t5 btw.
