  • What shop to do a motor swap?

I need a suggestion for a shop to swap a motor in an 01 Avalon. Preferably in the Fort Worth area but Id rather have them drive it to Dallas for a good shop.

Are there not any good shops in Fort Worth?

You already have the motor? My brother is a Toyota trained mechanic and might be able to do it. He is working at Auto Science right now.

Not wanting to start another rice burner thread but I have a 5-speed Scion TC that needs some work done (108k bonestock) and was looking for someone to give me a budget of hours and price it would take if I supply my own parts. Not exactly sure if I want to do the work myself or not. If I had the strut tower engine support I could knock this out with some vacation days and a lot of brew.

I want to replace the following since it's finally paid off and the subframe has to be dropped to swap the clutch which is showing its age:
                    Motor Mounts
                    Clutch w/ throwout bearing
                    Flywheel resurface or replace
                    Slave Cylinder
Waterpump, Tstat, Tstat housing, hoses, cap
                    Flush and fill coolant system
                    Flush and fill powersteering fluid
                    Serpentine Belt
                    CV shafts including intermediate shaft
                    Wheel bearings Front and Rear
                    Tie rods
                    Full bushings
                    Rotors/Pads Front and Rear
                    Complete slave/master/abs flush
                    4 wheel alignment
                    Fuel filter

Add alternate (I have no idea if any of this is necessary):
Valve adjustment - I definitely cannot do this myself
Timing chain tensioner replacement or inspection
                    Injector service or O-ring replacement
                    Clean MAF or replace
                    Replace 02 sensors
