Car Stuck in WOT ?

After 8 long months, i go to fire up my engine after removing everything to paint the bay. I set timing, first start up the car seems to be stuck in WOT !

Any Ideas why ?



I noticed the "butterfly" slightly open in the throttle body when i was assembling everthing. Is that a problem ?

Thats what im thinking, however, the throttle cable only goes on one way ?

Im going to research pics, etc, and see if i can identify a problem.

So when you fire it up the engine revs till it hits the limiter? Are you saying the tb blade is stuck wide open? It should be open just slightly. If the tb blade is nearly closed and its free reving like that then Id say you have a huge vacuume leak.

The Butterfly is slightly open with the cable installed.

I do not have anything on the vacuum line after the throttle body on the Upper intake. Its wide open. I assumed the line from the charcoal fuel canister went there, but being unsure, i pulled it off.

Im guessing its a vacuum line as well, just need to identify which one.

loosen the bolts on the cable bracket and see if you can fix that way. also check the cable where it goes to the pedal to ensure its still seated properly

How about disconnecting the throttle cable at the throttle body, allowing the throttle blade to fully close if it's being held open, and see if that cures your rev issue. If it does then you know to investigate the cable side of it. If it still revs high you know to look elsewhere.

Thats the first thing i did ........... My battery died so i coulndt get it to start again, so , i shut the garage door and went inside.

The heater hose would be in the egr spacer/throttle body, that one there is a vac port, and surely is open to the intake.

Cap that off and try again.

I capped mine off, but I was boosted.

Cobra intakes don't have the egr spacer, the EGR goes on the upper manifold itself if I remember right. But I haven't worked on fox bodies in forever, so chances are I'm wrong, lol.
