  • STOCK Motor rebuilders, Blaines, City Motor etc?

So, Im tossing around the idea of throwing in a more streetable motor into my car for 6 months, year, 5 years etc so I can drive it and not have a car payment.

Friend suggested Blaines and City as a cheap place to get a complete motor, good to go, drop that bitch in, hook up trans and drive car. Are either of these places better than the other? Is there someone better that is similar priced? Anyone have a running motor complete they want to sell? lol

Im open to stock EFI, 351 out of an gen one Lightning, GT40 setup out of Cobra or Explorer etc, as long as it runs and is 100%. I dont have old stock parts to throw on it readily findable.

Another option is a CHEAP race engine, found a 331 on corral for 3k, if this is only a grand or two more option to make 500 hp vs 200, that wont be much of a decision. My motor needs at least 10k to finish, and that's not in the budget currently. I only have 3 months till my lease makes me take the bus, so saving isnt an option. It's go time now or Ill be buying a bus pass.

thats the plan. Was going to daily it with it done on the gates around 800ish rw, but my boss fucked me on my hours, I had to spend all my mod money on bills, and now Im without mod money, a finished car, and almost without a daily. Sold all my other cars, so its this or walking. Im not really into walking.

I will look into that, and if I need the parts, Id greatly appreciate it. Id give em back when the motor came out if you wanted to sell em etc.

Weve used Jasper and napa engines for warranty reasons. If something goes bad out of town, it gets covered.

I'd buy a throw away car off of CL before I spent that much time wrenching.

I pulled my 408 out by myself in 6 hours... its not a lot of time wrenching honestly and I dont want to drive a pile of shit. I found a nice all stock 86 GT I thought about buying, but itd be at least double the cost of putting a stock engine in my car... btw, my car has nothing in it but a full interior, so it wont take but a weekend to throw a motor in it and get it running. i can even use my old 408 NA base tune for startup, itll be damn close as i spent hours tweaking that tuneup for power and mpg/driveability. Change injector size and itll be 90 percent I bet.
