  • After driving around with 4:56's...

I love them. Prior to what I was told by most, they are totally street-able. Starting in second gear is really the prime choice, shifting to third, and fourth as normal. Its no different than stock when shifted that way, except it can rip your face off in the gear of your choice. It pulls like a motherf*cking banshee in second gear; actually, better than first gear with 3:27's. 1st gear scares the sh*t out of me. While there is a bit of a traction issue if you floor it, you can launch pretty hard, shift early, and bite hard into second. I went to my backroad straight away and smoked the tires for 10 seconds or so, launched at around 2k and scooted like a bat outta @#!*% . No issues at all. The car is a monster from a 20-40 roll as well. I love this gear. Thanks for the advice Tim, and the tech help Doug. Couldn't have done it without you guys.

                    Great!

I run 4.30's with my 2V and love them. If I could turn a few more rpms, I would have gone steeper myself. No traction issues with slicks off of the bottle and working on traction with the bottle. Why are so many people scared of rpm's?

I'm glad you like them, Jeremy. You'll have to take me for a ride next time we have a GTG.

So when is the rematch with the coupe ?

Here's the kicker, though. Most of us (me included) drive 10-15 over on the highway anyway. 10-15 over on the tollway and you are sitting around 80-85, and with my 3:27's that was about 2700-2800 rpms. The 4:56's will only do a little bit more than that at 70. Long story short: I just have to drive the speed limit.

Maybe because they haven't run them. Or maybe because they are stereotyped. My point is: If you can get more acceleration 0-100, why wouldn't you go for it? The traction issue is solved with a trained foot and some DR's, If you wanted gas mileage you shouldn't have bought a mustang, and if you are scared of 3k rpms you are a puss. Especially with cars that live 5k + rpms.
