Keep the 3.73's and go with Forrest.

The 6.0 had some weak parts, but is mechanically very stout. I ran mine for 190k with a programmer. At ~25k I blew the headgaskets and warped the heads, covered under warranty, studded it and the only other time it was down when I blew an EGR at 125k. Other than that, I beat on that truck. Should have kept it.

Gas powered trucks don't make the torque typically that a turbo diesel does. If you were to run a 35" tire with stock gears, its going to run like shit. With a turbo diesel, it doesn't really need much more than stock gears to turn a 35" tire mostly because the torque it makes and the simplicity of adding another 60-80 lbs of torque with a plug in tuner, some exhaust and an intake tube/filter.

Ah. I mistook your statement.. Thought you were comparing turbo gasser v turbo diesel. My bad!

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I've spoken with cooter, I'll be meeting up with him in the next few days to get a tuner from him. Gears are definitely out, don't think I need them and the tuner is more cost effective.

Scott- just because I CAN do the heads and studs doesn't mean I want to! Helicopters are easy to work on compared to this diesel!

Yea, the 6.0 is a bastard. They're good to make money on, though! lol

Not that anyone cares, but I thought I'd update this.

First off, Cooter is a stand up guy. Talked to him on the phone, and he offered up some good advice. We were unable to meet while I was in his area, so he sent me an SCT tuner in the mail, BEFORE I paid him! (payment goes out today Forrest!)

I have yet to tow with this thing, but holy crap! Love the new tune! It has tunes from Matt at Gearheads, a couple tow tunes and a race tune. This thing pulls from a dead stop, and doesn't stop putting you in the seat. It'll break the tires loose any time you want. At $350-$400 a tire, we won't be doing that very often.

Thanks again for the input, should have done this a long time ago.

Enjoy that new found power. The tuned 6.0 is very close to gasser throttle response and is a total blast to drive.

Thanks Paul! I'm sure it'll need it someday, hopefully later rather than sooner!
