I am purchasing up parts for my Holley Dominator EFI and need to think about a MAP sensor, Dome pressure sensor, Crankcase pressure sensor, Exhaust pressure sensors (pre & post turbo).
For a MAP, I already have an AEM 3.5bar that I am happy with 3.5 BAR / 50 PSIa MAP Stainless Steel Sensor Kit . It requires me to input the scaling manually into the Holley system whereas buying the Holley Performance Products 5 Bar MAPĂ‚#554-108 , it is already there as an option. My question is, since I am not going to be seeing 30# of boost will I be better off with the 3.5bar? My thinking is yes based on finer scaling voltage to vac/boost. Am I right in that thinking?
For Dome, I figure repeat the MAP sensor at the W/G dome as well. And right now, I am leaning towards the AEM which means buy another. Still cheaper than buying TWO new ones.
How much exhaust pressure should I be seeing pre and post turbo? That will be my starting point for their sensors. I am looking at a cheaper sensor here though and would be fine with the brass style that AEM uses such as this 100 PSIg Brass Sensor Kit Am I right in my thinking that I will ALWAYS see pressure here so no need to worry about it reading vac?
For the crankcase, I am more interested in vac but positive pressure is just as important to me. I am going to use it's reading to trigger my electric vacuum pump through the Dominator ECU and via relay. But it will also be there to read how much vacuum that pump is actually pulling on my crankcase. Not enough and I will rethink the pump. Here is what I am thinking for the sensor 1 BAR / 15 PSIg Brass Sensor Kit I figure anything in the crankcase outside of 1bar is an issue anyways.
The nice thing about the AEM stuff, is that their scaling is available right on their product's webpage. However, their brass sensors seem to be twice the price they should be for what they are. I am finding similar (looking) senders on ebay for around $30 and AEM wants $60+ per.
