  • Need paint shop recommendations

So i did some shopping today on getting the mustang repainted.

Stopped by Richard's Auto and Paint in grapevine, to find out they dont repaint full cars but he gave me a recommendation to follow up

Stopped by Grapevine Collision Center (Toyota) next door, and was greeted by a surly woman who at first told me a minimum of 6 grand, and told me a customer with a corvette got his car repainted at 12 grand. With that in mind, she said to expect a final price between 6 and 12 grand. That is what I would call completely unacceptable.

Turnaround time isnt the biggest priority, mainly price and quality. I will say, I will set a hard deadline of 4 months turnaround. That should be sufficient. Usually if you leave it open ended, you end up in a situation like Baron's, where you dont get the car painted for years.

my deal was completely fucked up and I got hosed, but that is what to expect from shady people.

You might check with Kevin at Dick's Rod Shop, he'll be fixing a few things on mine. You might recognize the car in the background, its a board member's car:

I had mine done at Guys Paint and Body on Denton highway, back in 2001. Price was $2500 and that included rust repair under the back window, and pulling a caved in rear fender. they actually did body work, with as minimal filler as possible used. I think the paint has held up well, all these years. If they are still open its worth a shot.

If he is still open, take the car for the estimate. Also point every single dent or flaw you need fixed before the new paint goes on, maybe use a marker to circle them. He will not fix unless told to. I still have a painted over dent I didn't specifically point to. His reasoning is customer have bitched over pricing because they said they didn't want "that" dent repaired, just the other one.
