I haven't been able to find too much info on the 2.4L. My brother is looking for a KB and I know someone with a 2.4L and 60lb injectors for $2k. It has 15k miles on it. Are these decent blowers and is that a fair price? Thanks dfwm!

2.2s and 2.4s were the older gens, and the 2.6s and 2.8s are the new gens

Why not just go the easy route and put a turbo on it.

Not really. It's like knowing the difference between a V6 Mustang and a Mach 1 lol

Kenne Bells are pretty strong blowers. It might need the snout rebuilt but other than that they're pretty good. If he's ever going to want to go corn he needs to get 80lbs instead of 60's. $2k is decent, but for a little bit more you could find a 2.6 or even a 2.8.

That's what I was thinking. I'd rather have the peace of mind installing a lower mile blower as well, even though this one appears to be in great shape. He's going to want to run 93 only, as the closest corn keg is ~40 miles away. If he finds some 80lbs first, then it'd be easier just to install those anyway for any later mods.
2.8H Mammoth LC is ideal, but they're a bit steep lol

What are the things to check out on a blower when purchasing one used? I know to look at the rotors, but I do not know what to look at in detail other than those.

Look at the rotors and make sure they spin when you turn the pulley. If it doesn't have metal shavings coming off anywhere and it doesn't sound like its grinding then it should be good.

Since that deal fell through, I went on the lookout for a 2.3L Whippy. There's a guy over in South TX with a complete set up with under 1k miles for $2800. He's including the Accufab TB, 85# injectors, multiple pulleys, idlers, and a 4# lower pulley. Since he already has every besides the blower and injectors, the rest will go up for sale.
