    2.7L is garbage.. period..

did one in a magnum and it was like a $49xx.00 job that the customer was quoted 8k for everywhere else.

they usually lose oil pressure and throw the bottom end.

Nevermind that they can buy a reman from you for half the price, mark it up a little and get paid full labor to install it. Nope, they'd rather blow the customer out of the water and send them to an independent shop.

Ford dealers do this with the contour/mistakes too.

They pale in comparison to the QR25DE engine. The difference is that Nissan was proactive and started with aftermarket remans almost immediately. When one blows up out of warranty they sell you new cats, do the PCM update to stop them from burning up again and they sell you a reman with a 36/100 warranty for $2800 out the door. Assuming it's out of warranty of course and you don't understand what really caused the failure.

With Chrysler they completely ignored their problems and let the aftermarket sort it out. They didn't get away with it either, the company filed bankruptcy and is now owned by Fiat. If our government didn't hand them trailer loads of cash their plants would have all closed and we'd be seeing Fiat versions of all their cars.

The 2.7 is crap because like mentioned above, it attracts the trailer park crowd and when not maintained, they cook off the oil and do nasty things to metal.

Figure in the water pipes that corrode and they are ticking time bombs!
4.7's are junk every head we had come into the shop where i worked the heads needed resurfaced or were junk because of them worping.out of the 20 or so heads half of them needed atleast 2 valve seats.I tore down multiple 4.7 blocks that mutiple cylinder walls were scuffed/gouged bad enough that the blocks ended up being replaced. We also had multiple 5.7 heads come in that needed valve seats and a few sets (4 or so)to be resurfaced becuase of worping as well, didnt see the worping as much in the 5.7 heads.
