  • car trailer paint ?

Well I am sanding my trailer this week after getting new fenders put on and winch plate. What type of paint do you recommend? I want a bright red color. Also what size winch? I a considering 5000 lb or 9000 lb from habor freight. Got some ten ply tires and new brakes too. Who needs their car hauled...lol

Last one I painted was GM Indigo Blue and I did it with base/clear. If you are doing it red I would at the least use a single stage urethane. Cheap enamel red will start chalking pretty quick if left out in the weather. I would use a cheaper base/clear. The last thing you want to be doing is waxing a trailer.

No more than $400 to paint it. Want it to look good and last

Use the genesis industrial single stage from Sherwin Williams. It's all I use for trailers and ranch hand bumpers. Excellent color and gloss retention and it's hard as rock.

took a whole gallon and has two nice wet coats. as far as primer its not needed with this paint its meant to be applied on industrial equipment. that being said i hit a few bare metal spots with etch primer.

I work at a Sherwin Williams automotive location. That Genesis should do you well. As long as you prep and do it right it should last a long time.

I did the top of my trailer with bedliner. Painted the rest with a single stage enamel with hardner...
That Sherwin Williams stuff looks great
