I think it's digital dash solutions on ebay that gets the nod from most of the full size gm guys for clusters. 250-350ish last time I looked. Depending on what cluster you wanted

    08 Denali -baby hauler

I can get a brand new one from Delphi for $230. :/ what's up with these prices? The updated stepper motors are not costly and they don't look hard to do, the "needle calibration" is what I'm unaware of.

A place out in Waxahachie or some where close fixed my cluster in my 99, they advertise on cl. Drove up, they pulled it and had it fixed in less than an hour. Pretty nice guys

Found them http://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/ptd/4286214677.html Might be worth asking

They say "starting out at $50" but it's $150 to repair 2 stepper motors.

The part is like $10, I don't want my asshole to be that loose.

Yeah, any place that can rebuild the cluster can add the stepper motor, needle and overlay if they have the parts. If you do run across another cluster then yes, just use the HP Tuners to disable the theft system.

We have a tech 2 at work. You can bring it by and we can see what we can do on the mileage.

Where do I find factory gauge overlays?

I don't want any aftermarket stuff.

From what I've found out, I can do the DIY route and add a gauge to my existing cluster for ~$100.

The catch is it will not work unless it is reprogrammed with a tech 2, like you would a BCM, is what I have found out.

Is that something you can do ?
