  • 94 mustang Mach460 with new head unit

I bought a new pioneer head unit for my 94 Cobra with a Mach 460 init. I'm wondering about what installation kit I need. The one I got from best buy gave me wS a ford premium install kit with the long gray connector for the radio and a black square 8 pin connector for the factory amp. Others are telling me I need some sort of box that is a signal controller on the end of the amp install harness. I unfortunately can't get one clear answer on the subject. In just adding a aftermarket CD player head unit on a stock Mach 460 system speakers and amp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the bypass plugs inside the dash under the radio. Using a module to utilize the factoy amps usually sounds like ass.

What exactly are bypass plugs? I have a 3 connectors coming out of the stock radio/tape player. One is the long gray one, another is a 8pin that from what I hear goes to the amp and the third one is a 6pin that goes to the CD player below the radio/tape player.

Reach into the radio hole and to one side will be one gray and one black rectangular plugs. Unplug them and use a radio harness. Think it was an 1886 harness back in the day.
