  • Boost+fox= what rear gear?

Currently running a 3.73 in my coupe. Roughly 470 hp and 3000 lbs. I want to have a little more fun on the street than just blowing the tires off. Should I back it down to a 3.27-3.31? What do you guys with similar setups run?

Going down in gear probably won't help much if any.

I had 3.55 gears on my '90 LX Hatch (with T5). It was supercharged and made about 360 rwhp & 400 rwtq. I loved the setup. With 17x9 wheels and 275/40 tires it good pretty good traction.

I've also had 3.27 gears on my '92 LX Hatch that made 330 rwhp when it was supercharged. It also got good traction.

Both were great combos, but I really liked the '90 with 3.55 gears. I think you'll be happy with either if you've got a descent sized street tire in the rear.

Taller tire or a tire like a ET street would yield better results.

More tire and maybe a little less gear. I wouldn't go below a 3.55 unless its making a hell of a lot of torque.

I still run 3:55 on my car. Back when I made 500hp I switched from 3:55's to 3:73 I didn't feel much difference.

It hooks fine at the track, I just thought i might get a more usable power band with a gear change. May go auto instead.

3.27s all day Justin! Maybe a 3.31, I run 3.08s for gas mileage. The 3.08s are ok, But it takes forever to get going, With my Cobra Intake & TW 170s, The power doesnt really come on till 3000 RPMS & runs out around 5000 RPMs. If I wasnt so after fuel mileage I would upgrade to 3.27s & I just might still do it. But with the 3.08s at 75 mph I tach at 2000 RPMS & 65 around 1800 RPMs

                          Seb's high class.
                          He'll mow your grass.
                          He'll kick your ass.
And while his kidney stones pass,
                          He'll piss in a glass!

Thats what I'm thinking Seb. I went to a 275/50/15drag radial to see if it would help over the 275/40/17 nto5's. I am gonna play with street air pressure and see how it is. So far it has not helped. I will not run an ugly ass 28" on this car! May just get rid of the tremec 3550 for a c4. My last c4 car was super fun at half the power. Gears first though...

Im just not a C4 fan! 3 speed Auto means worse mileage, But the question is what are you wanting out of the car. Do you want to go Fast & win races or do you want a fast daily driver that you can take to Dallas with the kids or go whoop ass at the track
