I found a cool item on ebay to convert a 3G altenator to a one wire connection. Works great. I have had iton my car for two weeks now.

That looks interesting. Would save a few wires from my rewire. So I guess that the Alternator uses it's own output to turn on the regulator with +12v.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I had the 'mont wired this way, and it would kill the battery because it was constantly open. I wonder if this regulator actually fixes that?

DJ, this is sort of what killed my battery after the power tour in '11. Solder poked through the constant 12v which dug into the exciter wire turning the alternator "on".

I ordered one of these regulators. When it gets here I need to call PA and see if it will mess up the 200amp alternator I have.

I am excited to loose 3 wires from my harness.

Yes this thing works.. my car sits a lot between starts. Went all week sitting. Started it Sunday and it fired right up. Its a self exciting regulator so yes it turns itself on and off when its turning or not.

Doesn't seem worth it since its only 2 wires to begin with

Eliminating the green wire that runs to the stock gauge cluster allows you to eliminate the gauge cluster too and not generating charging issues, if you want to run all aftermarket gauges. Thats what I want to to do.

What do you mean when you say "eliminate the gauge cluster"?

Using different inputs to run the gauges, instead of the stock Ford stuff. You can eliminate a ton of extra wiring, and clean up the harnesses that way.

This... like running all autometer gauges that are a bit more accurate. .
