  • Anyone know much about soda blasting?

Im planning on renting a soda blaster setup from Sunbelt to blast my caddy body. I have a friend of mine that restores cars for a living and he is aprehensive due to some previous sand blasters ruining car bodies. From what Iv read it's almost impossible to ruin/warp metal using soda due to it breaking apart on impact.
Anyone have any experience with it or have a suggestion on what else to use?
I looked into having it dipped but that costs $1500+ vs $300-400 for the blaster and soda.

One issue with soda is there can be paint adhesion problems. Some painters won't even touch a car that has been soda blasted. Apparently it can leave a residue.

Soda won't warp the metal. It also won't remove any rust, hurt glass, or rubber. It's pretty forgiving on plastic also. It does leave a small PH on the body which keeps it from rusting for a while if kept inside. You have to neutralize it before any priming is done. They sell some stuff for this. some people wipe them with vinegar. soda works great, just research it a little more.
