Troubleshooting help needed!!

Howdy folks, I need to pick ya'lls brains! I just purchased a 1997 Thunderbird LX with the 4.6 L engine for my niece to drive and have a problem I hope you can help me with.

The transmissions overdrive gear doesn't work. The light is on in the dash for turning overdrive off but you can't turn overdrive back on. The transmission shifts great other than this problem. Any ideas where to start looking first??

I had a 97 TBird for a few years but I never ran into that issue....The folks over at TCCOA probably have though. http://www.tccoa.com/ Might be worth checking there too.
