I've had them do a good amount of work on Ford, Chevy and Dodge engines. So far everything has been great. Shannon and Bud are great to deal. The prices they charge are more than reasonable.

I will agree. denis wells is quite the dick head. If you know something about building engines, he does not have time for you, or even want your business. He likes the credit cards guys, that know nothing but their credit card number.

I did too, but I have heard it more then once. I've been also told he doesn't do manchine work for people only builds long blocks, but then I see half ass machine work that has taken 2 month to do from him. A associate of mine threw money at that guy, and his shit stays tore up. I ask him wtf is building your motor? because he doesn't know what he is doing. He informs me max long. Seen him go threw 5 motors with him last year. guy's bad ass blah blah blah. I said he ain't shit cause he can't build a nitrous motor to even hold 150 worth of gas. Then proceeds to tell me " ya...he will tell you he knows nothing about nitrous." I ask "why the fuck you keep waisting your money with some city motor reject?" Stupid is as stupid does.

I was asked to tune a nitrous motor last month that max long did all the machine work. I told them no. Because it's just going to blow up. they can't understand. they want 2 stages tuned, I tell them it will not even hold one. because its not set up for that. I can barley get you to keep 116 in the cell. It's just going to blow up as soon as the 2nd kit comes on. just like it did the last time you cut the second kit on. "ya....we did blow it up with the second kit." I asked why did you deck the heads? because they were warped. they were warped cause every dome of every piston was hitting the head. "did Max tell you your pistons were hitting your heads?" "huh? he said they were good!" Valves beat to shit. all the install heights different. old springs, didn't even put new valve stem seals in. splattered aluminum all over the valves and seats. some of the chambers burned back so far they had 4-5 threads of spark plug showing in the chamber. I told em all there shit was junk, max long played you for a fool and got you for your money. and they still put it together.

The last 3 motors I have looked at from max long, one out of tony thorns shop, have all had interference issues with the pistons hitting the chamber of the heads. First time they tried to sprayed the one out of tony's shop, it kicked the steal rods out. and trashed the whole motor. All the pistons in that motor had an out line of the heart shaped chamber stamped on the dome of the piston. The other windsor had aluminum rods, and squished the top half of the rod bearing out and bent the wrist pins had marks on the corner's of the dome's where they were hitting the chamber.

This is all standard engine building practices, that are being ignored.

They built the motor in WTS, did a great job

Do not use Rick Cottel at metroplex machine shop. The worst experience ever for me.

I used Gary at bullet racing engines A+ guy

Max, Bud, and Dennis all swap work.
Max builds really good motors and they stay together. Will only assemble complete motors though.
Bud has always done people right and his prices these days are good
Dennis I have always had good dealings with them. Good quality work

IMO They are all good. If I were just building a daily I wouldnt go to any of them, Id go to Travis @ A1 his prices are unbeatable for the work he does, but he does a lot a stock stuff, anything that makes a bunch of power Bud, Max and Dennis are all good builders

I'd guess it has some worn out valves/guides or maybe the intake gasket wasn't sealing properly. It was getting oil in the cylinders from somewhere.
