  • Ford u code 3.0 help

My girlfriends car bit the dust yesterday.

Car started running rough and the cel came on showing misfire on cyl 1, the plug wire seemed loose so I was assuming that's what it was. Her heater then stopped working, so I added some water to it, heater came back, and she went to work.

I then get a text saying "come outside my car is smoking "

Ugh.... So it's pouring steam from the tail pipe and it smells like something burning, I guess it's old nasty antifreeze being that her coolant tank is brown/nasty.

So I'm looking at a head gasket and I'm sure it's cracked the cylinder head because it's a 3.0 u code.

Where can I find a set of heads for this car? Autozone sells them for $180 so I know they can be found for at least half of that somewhere.

Anything else I should lookout for? The car only got hot on its way home and I'm hoping It it didn't mess up the bottom end to bad, we just parked it yesterday and I haven't messed with it.

Have heads pressure checked and check for flatness before buying new heads. Maybe just a head or intake gasket issue. If intake has water passage that is. Bottom end prob fine, but drain oil in caseacoolant got in crankcase. No metal then you should be good

            Call Dusty, faggot.

If that he doesn't have one, check around. Complete running 3.0s are dirt cheap to come by.

Dude put a bottle of blue devil in it. I have 99 with the same issue and ran bottle of the thru it and it runs good now. yes it is pricey but drain the system flush the shit out of it and mix the blue devil in a bucket with water then add a it slowly while the car is running then top off with anti freeze

                Id rather fix it.

I don't want to have to pull the motor, I heard it's a pita.

Arlington machine shop can check em and machine if needed. Most likely a gasket unless it dropped or burned a valve. But you would have more signs of that issue

And the easiest way to pull the heads on these cars is to drop the front subframe out. trust me I have done on it 3 or 4 times. Makes it very easy to get to the heads and TC cover

                          U code isn't duratec,techie

180 is not a bad price

Putting heads on a pushrod 3.0 isn't too bad. Follow the instructions for the torque to yield headbolts.

U = Vulcan and they blow head gaskets randomly. CHI aka headsonly as noted.
